SINGERS
Here is the full sheet music for OMWH with all four parts, transcribed by Taylor Holmwood. From top to bottom, it goes Kirstin, Mitch, Scott, and Avi. If you can't open the PDF on mobile, email us at thepentaholicchoir@gmail.com
Here is sheet music that just has individual parts (from left to right, Kirstin, Mitch, Scott, Avi)
-
Decide whose part you are going to sing. Choose Kirstin, Mitch, Scott or Avi.
-
Most sopranos and altos should be able to sing either Kirstin or Mitch's part. The lowest part is "when the lights go down in the middle of the night", and if that's too low for you, feel free to either lip sync or wait to come in until later.
-
Scott's part is good for tenors and baritones. PLEASE NOTE that the verses are SOLOS. "Ensemble Scotts" do not sing the verses; they come in at "when the lights go down in the middle of the night".
-
Avi's part should be sung by basses. :)
-
Please only choose one part to record and submit: Kirstin, Mitch, Scott, Avi, or clapping. Read more about this on our FAQ page!
-
-
Use these practice tracks to practice your part before you record.
-
The practice tracks for Scott, Mitch, and Kirstin have a lot of silence in the beginning because you don't come in until "when the lights go down in the middle of the night"
-
-
Watch the "How to Record" video on our YouTube channel. This has all the information you need for a successful recording.
-
Record your video using headphones or earbuds and the recording tracks.
-
You are supposed to hear the full piano part in your left ear and your individual part in your right ear. This may not work if you are using a phone or a device with mono speakers.
-
Make sure you are wearing a dark shirt and that you record in a bright, completely quiet room.
-
Avoid audio distortion! If you need an example of what distortion sounds like, listen to the bridge of our "Run to You " video. If this is happening to you when you sing loud or high notes, try recording again after moving farther away from your camera

SOLOISTS - AUDITIONS NOW CLOSED
Ready to release your inner Scott Hoying? Audition to be a soloist in our rendition of “On My Way Home”! ANYONE can audition for a solo, regardless of voice part or gender. We encourage you to go for it!
For the audition, you will video-record yourself singing both verses of the song while listening to the track with headphones or earbuds. You’ll need to use the recording track located on our SoundCloud (linked on our website under FAQ > Tracks), or watch the video on our Youtube channel. The video will also include the lyrics. The track has four beats of silence, plays the first verse on piano, another 4 beats of silence, and then the second verse. Listen to the track and practice before you record. You don’t need to stick exactly to Scott’s embellishments. Feel free to add your own style (within reason).
Please record yourself in a room with minimal background noise and good lighting. The only thing we should be able to hear in the recording is your voice. We also ask that you wear a dark colored shirt. We will take material from the selected auditions and add it to the final product, so your submission needs to be polished!
Soloists must send their audition videos to thepentaholicchoir@gmail.com by Tuesday, June 16th at 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time (Auditions are now closed). You can attach your video in the email, send us a link to a youtube / vimeo video, or share it via Google Drive. In your email, please include the name you wish to go by in our credits and the country you live in.
The Pentaholic Choir Team will collaborate to select soloists. Everyone will be notified by email whether or not they were chosen. Please understand that we will try to include as many singers as possible for the solo part, but we will probably not be able to include all who audition. We are only adding these brief solos because it works better for the song stylistically. Again, please go for it, and submit a video singing with the rest of the choir, regardless of whether or not you are chosen for a solo!
BEATBOXER - AUDITIONS NOW CLOSED
Do you know a thing or two about the boots n’ cats? Think you have what it takes to keep a choir of hundreds of Pentaholics in time? Audition to be “Kevin” in our rendition of “On My Way Home”! ANYONE can audition to be the beatboxer. This is new to the choir, so go for it and show us what you can do!
We ask that you send us a 1 minute sample video of your very best beatboxing skills. You do not need to mimic Kevin exactly, but keep his style in OMWH in mind for your sample. Because this role is so important, we will be taking the quality of the recording into consideration. Please record your video as you would if you were selected to beatbox for the final product. It is preferable that you use an external microphone, rather than the microphone in your computer. Use your best recording method, but don’t run out and buy fancy equipment if you don’t have it already. Do the best you can with what you own and show us your skills!
Beatboxers must send their audition videos to thepentaholicchoir@gmail.com by Tuesday, June 16th at 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time (Auditions are now closed). You can attach your video in the email, send us a link to a youtube / vimeo video, or share it via Google Drive. You may also include other videos of your beatboxing skills if you wish, such as with an a cappella group, but you must include the 1 minute sample video. In your email, please include the name you wish to go by in our credits and the country you live in.
The Pentaholic Choir Team will collaborate to select the beatboxer. Everyone will be notified by email whether or not they were chosen. The person selected will coordinate with us to determine how to proceed with the final recording. As much as we would love to have an army of beatboxers, we can only choose one this time. If we do not choose you, please submit a video singing with the rest of the choir!
